Getting to grips with Workbench 207 In the last part of the current series for all Amiga beginners, we're building on last month's experience to show you how to make a self-booting Workbench disk and along the way, you'll learn an awful lot about how icons do the things they do. Interlock Another very fine complete game contributed by a reader, this is an original puzzle game that will keep you going for days... Welcome to Amiga Format! On page 11... CanDo Junior Well, it's a big time for the Amiga and no mistake. This month we've got the news that the A500 Plus will no longer be made and that the A600 is to take over as the new base-level machine, never mind the fact that there are certainly some new top-end Amigas on the way. No time to relax! As ever, the world's best-selling Amiga magazine is the one to read to find out the latest news about all these developments. But it's not just that that's kept us working late nights to prepare this issue of the magazine for you: we've also spent an enormous amount of time taking to people throughout the Amiga world to try and develop a balanced view of these new developments. Whenever there's a big change in the Amiga world, the first reaction from many people. After they've got over the shock, is to say 'why fix it if it isn't broken?' The A600 is no different: a lot of people, many of whom have been Amiga enthusiasts ever since it first appeared, have basically given it a kicking before it's had a chance to prove its worth. Just not fair. The most difficult thing we have to do is try hard not to be biased by anyone's opinions. We aim to provide you with the information you need to reach your own conclusions. Not that we can avoid having an opinion of our own, and we're not afraid to express that, either, but we've got to be careful to avoid jumping the gun or giving misleading information and be sure that when we finally come down off the fence, we're standing on the right side. Anyway, read through this very important issue of Amiga Format: absorb the information in it; and then tell us your opinion.
